This was my foray into the world of Devlin Haskell P.I. And I'd say that I was overall quite pleased by this bookbub freebie find. The pacing is well worked out and the central character is likeable in a scampish kind of way. Sometimes I found the humour in the book missed the spot, and I generally didn't find much in it that was laugh out loud, though the hard-boiled noiresque P.I. placed in a contemporary setting has a nice feel to it and the plot bumps along nicely. A couple of the plot points seem a little nonsensical and are brushed over a little too quickly yet this quirky and fun mystery ride was obviously never intended to be taken too seriously and should be enjoyed for the fun little jolt it is. I will be undoubtedly be reading more of this series in the future.
